Is Aveda curly girl approved? Unfortunately out of the sixty Aveda products I looked at, only twenty three of them were curly girl approved. Surprisingly this included only two products from Aveda’s Be Curly range. I did find several Aveda shampoos and conditioners which were curly girl friendly but the majority of their products were not. In this post I have listed all twenty three curly girl approved Aveda products and the thirty seven which are not approved.
Products that are curly girl approved are free from the following ingredients:
- Sulfates/sulphates
- Alcohols or witch hazel (unless it’s marked as alcohol-free)
- Soap ingredients including potassium hydroxide and lye
- Waxes that are not water-soluble (PEG/PG/PPG)
- Silicones that are not water-soluble (PEG/PG/PPG)

Is Aveda Curly Girl Approved?
Despite Aveda having a range specifically designed for curly hair, I found that most of their products were not curly girl friendly. The only two products from their Be Curly range which were suitable for the curly girl method were the co-wash and style prep. Most of Aveda’s shampoos, conditioners and tonics contain ingredients which mean they are not suitable for the Curly Girl Method. I have listed at the bottom of this post all the products which are not CG friendly.
