Homemade Vanilla Bean Fig Jam with Maple Syrup

This is my easy vanilla fig jam recipe. It’s simple to make and uses just a few ingredients.

As it cooks, the figs break down into a thick, chunky jam. It’s good on toast, biscuits, or with cheese. It keeps well in the fridge for a few days.

Vanilla Bean Fig Jam

This is the vanilla fig jam recipe I make at home. It’s thick, lightly sweet, and made with fresh figs and vanilla. This recipe makes a small batch with minimal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound figs (450g), stems removed, washed, and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla bean extract

Instructions

    1. Place the figs and lemon juice in a large bowl.
    2. Let sit at room temperature for 45 minutes.
    3. Transfer the figs and juices to a large pot over medium heat.
    4. Add the maple syrup and vanilla. Stir to combine.
    5. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thick and jam-like, about 50–55 minutes.
    6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
    7. Serve warm or transfer to an airtight container.
