OGX and HASK are both haircare brands that are well known for their exotic ingredients and luxurious fragrances. I tested out both the OGX Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner, and the HASK Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Conditioner, and compared the two. This post is my comparison of OGX vs HASK.

OGX is one of my favourite haircare brands. I have tested out over 18 different OGX shampoos and conditioners, and reviewed them on UK Beauty Room. I am now working my way through all of the shampoos by HASK, and comparing them to OGX.
OGX and HASK make some shampoos which are very similar to each other. In the table below I have listed these shampoos side by side.

OGX vs Hask Argan Oil Products
Both OGX and HASK make an Argan Oil shampoo, conditioner and hair oil. HASK also make additional products in their Argan oil line including a deep conditioner, and a repair cream.
Texture and Consistency of the Shampoos
I found that the texture and consistency of the two shampoos were very similar. Both of them are quite creamy shampoos with a silky texture.
Since neither contain sulphates, they don’t lather very well compared to other Argan oil shampoos with SLS, such as the Herbal Essences Argan Oil shampoo.
Out of the two shampoos I felt that the HASK shampoo lathered better compared to the OGX shampoo, however they were very similar.
In the photograph below I have put the two shampoos side by side so you can see the texture and consistency of the two.

Texture and Consistency of the Conditioners
Whilst the two shampoos were very similar, I found the texture of the two conditioners to be very different. The OGX conditioner had a thick, creamy consistency whereas the HASK conditioner was a clear gel.
Both conditioners felt different on my hair. The OGX Argan oil conditioner was very slippery on my hair, but the HASK conditioner felt very much like I was smoothing a gel over my hair.
In the photograph below I have put the two conditioners side by side so you can see the difference in texture and consistency.

Scent
Both the OGX Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner had a woody scent that remained on my hair after I had washed the products out. The HASK shampoo and conditioner however had a more citrus scent.
If you look at the ingredients in the HASK shampoo you will see it contains Limonene. This is a chemical found in the peels of citrus fruits, and it gives the HASK Argan oil products a strong lemony scent.
Packaging
The HASK Argan oil shampoo comes in a tall thin bottle, wheres the OGX Argan oil shampoo comes in a round, chunky bottle. The matching conditioners come in the same shaped bottles.
I found that when I was coming to the end of the conditioners, it was more difficult to get the remaining product out of the OGX bottle compared to the HASK bottle. For this reason I prefer the HASK packaging.
The photograph below shows a close up of the two different bottles.

Price
When it comes to the price I found both brands were very similar. They are both drugstore brands that are available at reasonable prices. If you live in the UK, the two brands are frequently on sale or have offers at Boots.
In the table below I have linked to the OGX and HASK shampoos on Amazon, Boots and Walmart so you can check out their current price.

Results
Both the OGX and HASK products helped to increase shine, reduce frizz and add moisture to my hair. Out of the two I felt that the HASK products did a better job at moisturising my hair, perhaps because of the extra glycerin they contain.
I would recommend any of these products for dry or frizzy hair. The OGX shampoo and conditioner however, leaves the hair particularly glossy, so if you have dull looking hair that would be my top choice out of the two.
I would not recommend these products if you have extremely oily or greasy hair. They are both sulphate free which means they are gentle, but the cleansing agents in them may not be strong enough to properly clean greasy hair types.
Other Considerations
I have detailed below some other things you may want to consider if you are trying to choose between HASK and OGX.
Artificial Fragrance
Be aware that both shampoos contain artificial fragrance, so if you are particularly sensitive to fragrances, you may want to avoid them both. The OGX shampoo also contains artificial colors.
Cruelty Free
At the time of writing this post HASK is completely cruelty free, whereas OGX is not.
Protein
The OGX Argan Oil shampoo is free from protein but the HASK Argan Oil shampoo has keratin protein in it.
Protein is excellent for high porosity, damaged or brittle hair, but not good for low porosity hair, or hair that is suffering from protein overload.
Recommendation
- HASK Argan Oil shampoo – choose this product if you have brittle hair or high porosity hair
- OGX Argan Oil shampoo – choose this product if you have low porosity hair, or protein buildup
Salt
Both the OGX Argan Oil shampoo and the HASK Argan Oil shampoo contain sodium chloride, which means neither are a good choice if you have had a keratin treatment on your hair.
Salt strips the hair of keratin very quickly and should be avoided if you have had salon treatments such as the Brazilian Blowout.

Full Ingredients in the OGX Shampoo vs HASK Shampoo
OGX and HASK Argan Oil
Both OGX and HASK make an Argan Oil which can be left on the hair. Both oils come spray bottles and have the same consistency.
I found both produced very similar results and were good at adding moisture and shine to dry hair.
