Mango is a good natural home remedy to soothe skin irritations and reduce inflammation. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and effective at calming irritated skin including redness, an allergic reaction, itching and sunburn.

To soothe inflamed skin using mango butter, melt a small amount in your hands and gently pat onto the affected area. You could also try mixing the butter with other natural ingredients such as aloe vera gel to make a calming natural product.

3. Mango Butter is a Good Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Skin

If you have oily or acne prone skin, mango butter will moisturise your skin without clogging your pores. Mango butter has a much lower chance of blocking pores compared with both cocoa butter and shea butter so would be the best type of body butter for anyone with acne. Since mango has natural antibacterial properties it may also help to reduce blemishes.

4. Mango Butter Provides Essential Nutrients to the Skin

Mango seeds are rich in vitamin a, vitamin c, vitamin e and vitamin b6 which are all essential for beautiful skin. They also contain the essential fatty acids linoleic acid and arachidic acid which help to keep the skin supple and hydrated.

If you regularly massage mango butter into the skin the nutrient-dense fats also nourish the hair follicles and help to promote healthy hair growth.

5. Mango Butter Reduces the Appearance of Fine Lines

Mango is naturally high in vitamin a which helps to promote collagen production and increase skin elasticity. If you have mature skin or are worried about premature ageing, the vitamin a in mango butter can reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Mango butter also has natural deflective properties against uv rays and is sometimes used in sunscreen to protect the skin from sun damage and premature skin ageing. Since it is also high in vitamin c it protects the skin from the free radicals that can lead to fine lines and wrinkles.

6. Mango Butter is Excellent for Moisturizing Dry Skin

Mango butter is high in squalene which helps to hold moisture in your skin. It is an excellent ingredient for anyone with dry skin due to the high amounts of oleic and linoleic acids which help keep the skin moisturised. It also helps to soothe psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis due to it’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Due to it’s moisturising abilities and high palmitic acid content, mango butter is often used in lip balms to soothe and heal cracked and dry lips. If you wanted to make your own skin care products for dry skin you could try mixing mango butter with coconut oil and store it in a jar at room temperature.

7. Mango Butter Prevents Stretch Marks

By keeping the skin supple it is possible to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. Body butter helps to maintain your skin’s elasticity and makes it less likely that your skin will tear as your pregnancy develops.

Mango butter is excellent at keeping your skin supple and elastic. The butter is high in oleic acid, stearic acid, palmitic acid, lauric acid, and linoleic acid which are all fatty acids which help to add moisture to the skin.  They hydrate and protect the top layer of the skin making it less likely to stretch and tear.

Other Different Kinds of Butter

Mango butter is my favourite type of body butter since of all body butters it is less likely to block the pores and absorbs quickly into the skin. There are however other popular butters including cocoa butter, kokum butter and vegetable butters which can be used to moisturise the skin.

Kokum Butter

Kokum butter comes from the seeds of the kokum tree. It has powerful moisturizing properties and won’t clog the pores. It’s often used to treat skin conditions such as acne, minor inflammatory conditions, and dry skin, hair, and scalp.
