Probiotics in Skin Care help to Protect Your Skin’s Microbiome which Reduces Acne Scars and Uneven Skin Tone
If you are interested in probiotics in skincare, Aurelia is a company of which you should take note. The brand is built around the link between gut and skin health and very involved in research related to the benefits of probiotics on the skin. Evidence has shown that putting probiotics onto your skin helps to build a strong barrier, protecting your skin from external aggressors. All of Aurelia’s products contain a probiotic formula which which has been tested and proven to balance and restore the skin. None of the products contain live bacteria. Instead they contain a probiotic from bifido bacteria in the form of a glycoprotein combined with a milk peptide. You can read more about the science behind Aurelia’s products here. This is an Aurelia probiotic skincare review of their day cream.
How do Probiotics Help the Skin?
Probiotics in skincare prevent bad bacteria from causing an immune response, thereby reducing inflammation. They also produce natural antibiotics to combat the bad bacteria and boost the skin’s ability to combat external aggressors such as free radicals, sun exposure and pollution. Overall probiotics create a calm environment for the skin which:
- Reduces redness, inflammation and bumps
- Reduces acne and rosacea
- Reduces eczema
- Hydrates the skin
- Helps to delay skin ageing
- Creates more even skin tone and reduces acne scars
Review of the Aurelia Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser
The product I tested out was the Aurelia Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser (pictured below). It comes in amber glass packaging. It is important to me when recommending products that I check the company are working to reduce their waste. Aurelia are committed to reducing single use plastic and only use recyclable glass jars.
First Impressions of the Aurelia Day Cream
The Aurelia Probiotic Skincare day moisturiser is scented with Jasmine, Plumeria, Tuberose and Mandarin. It has the consistency of a thick yoghurt. When you first smooth it onto your skin it leaves a white film but this goes away very quickly.
The product seems to leave a clear film over your skin however it doesn’t leave your skin sticky or shiny. I found it was a perfect base under makeup. Almost straight after applying the product it feels as if there is a barrier on your skin. There was no heavy feeling on my skin. The product felt very light and absorbed quickly. My skin also felt refreshed once I had applied the product.
The Effect of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Day Moisturiser on my Skin
I recommend you use this product consistently for at least a week or more before looking for results. I did notice the day after using the moisturiser that my skin looked healthier. It seemed smoother and had a pink glow. After about a week however the difference was really noticeable. I even had a few people comment on how good my skin looked. My skin felt much stronger and healthier and looked well moisturised and hydrated. I also noticed that my skin tone looked more even. Any blemishes or dark spots faded and the surface of my skin looked much smoother.
Although this day moisturiser is more expensive than some of the other products I have reviewed, I would say it’s definitely worth the cost. The product makes a noticeable difference to your skin which looks healthier and more even in a couple of weeks. There has been evidence to show using probiotics in your skin care can help delay skin ageing, reduce acne and create a barrier protecting your skin from the environment. I recommend that it’s definitely worth investing in probiotics and at the moment Aurelia are the brand who are leading the way.
