If you’re thinking about booking the Lush Spa Synesthesia treatment on Oxford Street, this post is for you. I’ve made a full video review which you can watch below.
Arriving at the Lush Spa (Oxford Street)
The spa entrance is downstairs, and there’s a small waiting area outside. You’ll want to arrive 10–15 minutes early because you’ll be given a short health questionnaire (standard spa form — quick and straightforward).
After that, they take you into the Lush “kitchen” area to start the consultation.

Choosing Your Word (Your “Intention”)
The first thing you’re shown is a board of words. You’re asked to choose the one that jumps out at you most — without overthinking it.
I chose “Resilience.”
This matters because your word determines:
- the massage bar used during your treatment
- and a matching bath bomb linked to that word
They don’t tell you the scent linked to each word. The whole point is to pick based on the word, not the smell.

Choosing the Scent in the Room
Next, you’re shown lots of tiny bottles, each with a word on it. While they prepare the room, you choose the one word that stands out to you.
I chose “Hug.”
That bottle influences the scent used in the room — again, they don’t tell you what it is, because they want the choice to be intuitive. (Mine wasn’t super strong, but it still added to the atmosphere.)

The Treatment Room Setup
The room is genuinely cool. The whole idea is multi-sensory — something for all your senses.
Things that stood out:
- Lighting across the floor and ceiling
- Dry ice under the bed, which looked amazing
- The bath bomb linked to your word is used as part of the sensory experience
- The scent from your chosen bottle is mixed into a glass container with dry ice and moved around the room
It’s designed to feel like a full sensory “journey,” not just a standard massage.

The Massage Experience (80 Minutes)
This is a full-body massage, and it lasts 80 minutes.
During the treatment, you also go through a 24-hour sound journey:
- morning sounds (like birdsong)
- moving through the day
- into night sounds (quiet, owls, “falling asleep” vibes)
- through the night
- and back into the day again
I was slightly unsure beforehand because it’s different from a normal massage. But honestly, it felt really relaxing and immersive — and I loved that it wasn’t rushed.
Also: I lift weights and my muscles are almost always sore, so I really felt like it helped. Afterwards the therapist even commented that my muscles were very stiff (which checks out).
After the Treatment
Afterwards, they make you a cup of tea. I don’t drink caffeinated drinks, but they do have a decaf option, so that was great.
They also left a few small gifts for me:
- the bath bomb linked to my word
- another bath bomb
- and they wrapped up the massage bar used on me so I could take it home
But just a heads up: it sounds like this varies. Someone who came in after me said she hadn’t received anything on a previous visit. So I wouldn’t book it expecting freebies — I just happened to get them.

One Thing to Know
A key detail: they do put oil on your face during this treatment.
I wore makeup in and it was fine — but afterwards I wanted to wash my face. There’s a shower, but I wasn’t offered it (and I probably wouldn’t have used it anyway because I wanted the massage oil to stay on).
The bathrooms have lots of Lush products you can use — sprays, face wash, etc. But my therapist had a client immediately after me, and I did feel a little rushed at the end. Some items in the bathroom also seemed to be missing/empty, and I felt awkward asking when she was already running late.
That’s my only real criticism: appointments might be booked too tightly back-to-back.
Is It Worth the Money?
It’s expensive (£160) – but I personally think it’s worth it if:
- you love Lush
- you want a full experience, not just a massage
- you work out and get tight muscles
- you want something that feels genuinely different
I paid a bit less because I had app credit from returning bottles, and I also treated it as a birthday present to myself.
Would I do it again? Yes. I’d happily go back — and I’d also like to try another Lush treatment in a few months.
How I Felt the Next Day
One warning: I felt a bit unwell the next day. For me, it felt like the typical post-massage “ugh” feeling — like your body is processing it.
So: drink loads of water after.
Final Thoughts
Even though the spa is right off Oxford Street, it felt peaceful and quiet inside. The staff were friendly, and the overall experience was genuinely relaxing.
If you’re considering the Lush Spa Synesthesia treatment, I definitely recommend it — especially if you love immersive spa experiences and want something that feels a bit magical.
If you’ve tried any of the other Lush treatments, tell me which one you’d recommend next.
