If you’ve been following me on YouTube, you’ll know I’ve had quite a bit of hair loss over the last few years. I’ve tried a number of different treatments to regrow my hair, including hair growth shampoos and supplements, but so far nothing has worked. I’m now trying out a new hair serum, and this post is my review of the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum.
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum is formulated to help grow thicker hair with more volume. According to the packaging you should see results after 4 weeks, however I used it for 12 weeks before deciding whether or not it worked for me.
The formula includes ingredients such as caffeine and pea sprout, which are known to stimulate the hair follicles and encourage growth. According to the brand’s website, their product has been shown to increase the thickness of each hair strand by up to 13%.
I’ve tried hair serums in the past to increase growth and prevent excess hair loss. Unfortunately I never found anything that worked for me. After I started testing the Grow Gorgeous Hair Serum, I posted updates every month with photographs showing my hair growth progress after month 1, 2 and 3. You can also follow my hair growth journey on YouTube (see below).

What is Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum?
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum is a watery serum that you apply to your scalp to help your hair become thicker and healthier. It can be used on all hair types and is vegan friendly, gluten free and made without mineral oil, parabens, sulphates, silicones, or phthalates.
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum has also been called the Grow Gorgeous Hair Density Serum. Both are the same product.
The serum comes in two formulas, the original formula and an intense formula. The intense formula has all the same vitamins as the original serum but is more concentrated. In this review I’m only testing out the original formula.
The key ingredients in the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum are caffeine, hyaluronic acid, pea sprout, Chinese skullcap, soy and wheat sprouts. Each of these natural ingredients play a role in creating healthier, more voluminous hair.
Benefits of Caffeine for Hair Growth
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum lists caffeine as one of its main key ingredients.
Caffeine has been shown to help prevent hair loss by blocking the effects of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) on the hair follicles. DHT makes the hair follicles shrink and causes the hair to either become thin and brittle, or fall out all together. It also makes it take longer for new hairs to regrow.
DHT comes from testosterone, and is usually the cause of hair loss in men. It can also cause hair loss in women however if they have too much DHT.
Caffeine has been shown to prevent hair loss as it stops the DHT from damaging the hair follicles. In a study from 2007 applying caffeine to the hair follicle resulted in longer, wider hair roots, and increased growth. The results were the same for both men and women. The caffeine also kept the hair in the growth stage for longer.
Caffeine also helps to increase the blood circulation to the hair root and make the hair grow faster and stronger. Over time this can make the hair look fuller and thicker.
Grow Gorgeous state on their website that the Intense Serum contains a 6% concentration of solubilized caffeine. There is no information however about quantity contained in the original formula, which I’m testing. I reached out to the company and asked them to clarify what percentage of caffeine is in their original formula.
My body is sensitive to caffeine and it would be useful both for myself, and for my readers to know how much caffeine is in this serum. After several emails back and forth with their customer service team, I received an email telling me that they don’t know. A screen shot from this email correspondence is below.
Benefits of Pea Sprout for Hair Growth
The Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum lists pea sprout extract as its second key ingredient for stimulating the hair roots.
One study from 2019 showed that taking 100mg of pea sprout extract helped to significantly reduce hair loss after only 28 days. This may be because the pea extract helped to shorted the telogen phase of the growth cycle and strengthen the hair follicle. I could not find any clinical studies showing that pea sprout helped hair growth when it was applied topically.
Benefits of Red Clover for Hair Growth
The Grow Gorgeous Growth Serum also contains red clover (also known as trifolium pratense flower extract) to improve the health of the hair follicles.
One study from 2013 showed that applying a solution of 5% red clover extract to the scalp for 4 months lead to a 13% increase in hair growth, and a 29% decrease in hair loss.
Another study showed that 109 postmenopausal women saw significant improvements in the texture of their hair after taking 80mg of red clover extract for 90 days.
How to Use the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum
You can use the serum on either dry or towel-dried hair. Apply 20 drops to your scalp and hair line, and massage in. You can smooth any excess product through your hair. Do not rinse it out. Continue to use it every day for at least three months to see results.
I always applied the product to dry hair rather than damp hair since I found it easier to massage into dry skin.
The serum comes with a dropper so it’s easy to apply to your scalp. My first impressions of using it was that it has a nice smell, and absorbed well into my scalp. I’ve tried other hair growth serums that were oily and left my hair looking greasy, but I prefer the texture of this serum.
I found the serum does leave the hair looking a tiny bit greasy at the roots, but compared with other serums I’ve tried it wasn’t that noticeable. The main side effect that I saw which I wasn’t expecting, was that this affected my sleep!
The first day I tested this I felt unusually alert, but didn’t think anything of it. Later that night I was struggling to get to sleep. I then remembered that the serum contains caffeine. My body is very sensitive to caffeine and I can only drink coffee in the morning. I wasn’t expecting a serum to have the same effect on me, but going forward I will only apply the product first thing in the morning, so it won’t affect my sleep!
Pros and Cons of the Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum
Overall I found that the product did help my hair to regrowth, but the difference was only about 7%. You can see my before and after photographs below.
Pros
- Great scent – it smells like a luxury hair product
- Easy to use – I found the product easy to massage into the scalp, and the Original Serum absorbed well into the skin
- Nice texture – the Original Serum is quite watery and not oily or thick
- Vegan
Cons
- Leaves the hair greasy – Be aware that the Intense Serum is very different to the Original Serum. The Intense Serum leaves the hair looking greasy and feeling crispy. The Original Serum on the other hand absorbs well and doesn’t leave residue on the hair.
- Disturbed my sleep – the caffeine in this product really affected my sleep so I now only use it first thing in the morning.
- I’m washing my hair more often – I have very dry hair so I try not to wash my hair every day but because the Intense Serum leaves my hair slightly greasy it means I’m washing it more than normal. This has resulted in the ends of my hair becoming a bit drier.
- Gave me a mild headache
Grow Gorgeous Intense Hair Growth Serum Ingredients
There are two different formulas: the original formula and an intense formula. I tested out the original formula for month 1 and 2 and then moved onto the intense formula. I have listed the ingredients below for both products so you can compare them.

Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum Before and After
I will be posting my before and after pictures here, and will update this post every month. The first photograph was taken on 12 January 2022 which was the day I started using the serum. I will add a new photograph every month so you can see whether the serum has made a difference.
Before
After 1 Month
After 1 month I couldn’t really see any difference. According to the Grow Gorgeous website, you can see results after 4 weeks, however I don’t think this is enough time for hair to grow.
After 2 Months
After 2 months I felt that my hair was starting to feel a bit thicker. It was hard to see if there were new hairs coming through but I noticed that my hair had a bit more volume. I wasn’t expecting miracles at this stage, but I do think the serum might have started to make a difference.
After 3 Months
After 3 months I moved from the Original Serum to the Intense Serum. In comparison to the original serum, I found the intense serum was more greasy and didn’t absorb as well into the scalp. Due to this I found I was washing my hair more frequently when I started using this serum.
The photograph below showed what my scalp looked like after 3 months of using the serum daily. Even though my hair did feel thicker, there is still a thin patch on top of my head.
I have put two photographs side by side to show you the before and after results of using the serum. I can’t see much difference. Please let me know what you think in the comments below.
I will carry on applying the serum every day until the bottle has run out. In the meantime you can follow my progress on my YouTube channel, or subscribe to my blog via the homepage.
