The Korean Hair Serum that Gives Your Hair a Glass-like Shine

Etude House Silk Scarf is a Korean hair serum that leaves your hair with a glass-like shine! Now Etude House also make Silk Scarf moist hair mist and a Silk Scarf hair treatment!

Koreans are well known for their multi-step skincare routines but many people don’t know there is also a haircare routine. Whilst in the West hair care mainly focuses on the hair itself, in the East the focus is the scalp!

Koreans place the priority on caring for the scalp first believing that a healthy scalp will lead to healthy hair. Koreans also have a 10 step hair care routine and 5 of those steps are relating only to the scalp! The 10 steps include: exfoliating the scalp, shampoo and scalp massage, conditioner, hair mask, vinegar rinse to balance the scalp’s pH, scalp mask, scalp tonic, scalp serum, hair serum, and an overnight treatment. In this post I am reviewing a product from step 9 – a Korean hair serum.

After applying essence or serum to your scalp the next step is to apply another serum to your hair. Serums deliver active ingredients to your hair keeping it moisturised and increasing its softness and shine. A good serum also acts as a leave-in detangler. The hair serum is one of the final steps in the routine as they seal in all the other products you have applied to your hair before it. They also provide the final protective layer to your hair to stop it getting damaged by the environment and to prevent dryness and split ends.

Korean Hair Serum, Etude House Silk Scarf

Etude House Silk Scarf Hologram Hair Serum

The Korean hair serum that I recommend is the Etude House Silk Scarf Hologram Hair Serum. It gives your hair a glass-like shine, eliminates frizz and seals the hair cuticles with a moisturising layer.

Ingredients

PROPYLENE GLYCOL, WATER / AQUA / EAU, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, GLYCERIN, DIMETHICONE, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, VP/VA COPOLYMER, POLYACRYLAMIDE, C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN, FRAGRANCE / PARFUM, LAURETH-7, BUTYLPHENYL METHYLPROPIONAL, LINALOOL, BENZYL BENZOATE, HEXYL CINNAMAL, BENZYL SALICYLATE, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, CAMELLIA JAPONICA SEED OIL, MACADAMIA TERNIFOLIA SEED OIL, POLYQUATERNIUM-62

When I first tested the product I could tell from the consistency that it contained a lot of silicone. You can see from the ingredients list above that this Korean hair serum contains Cyclopentasiloxane which is a silicone that is regularly used in cosmetic products. Silicones are excellent in serums as they create a barrier between the hair and its environment. It not only locks in all the products you’ve applied to your hair but stops anything else getting in. This is important to prevent frizzy hair as you wouldn’t want water from the environment getting into your hair. The Etude House Silk Scarf Hologram Hair Serum also contains high amounts of glycerin and propylene glycol which are both humectants and keep the hair moisturised.

Experience of Using the Hair Serum

Etude House Silk Scarf Hologram Hair Serum

I applied a liberal amount of the serum throughout my hair and was very happy and surprised that it left no greasy residue whatsoever. In the past I’ve tried hair serums that I had to apply sparingly since they made my hair appear greasy. This wasn’t the case with the Etude House Silk Scarf Hologram Hair Serum. The product has a very light sweet smell that is almost like strawberry. Once it has been applied to the hair the smell fades very quickly so your hair is not left perfumed.

The product comes in beautiful packaging making it something that would make a good gift. If you are looking for a Korean hair serum to try this one has also gained five star reviews and become Amazon’s recommended Korean hair serum. After using the product every day for a couple of weeks I did notice that my hair became much softer and shinier. It was also much easier to manage and style, and there was a noticeable reduction in frizziness.

If you have dry, frizzy hair I would recommend that you apply this product liberally to dry hair. You will notice straight away that your hair is smoother and has a glossy weight to it. After a few weeks of use you will see your hair become much softer and you will need to use less of the product to have the same effect.

Overall I feel this product is an excellent hair serum and is a fantastic bargain for the price!
