Uses of the Wild Rose Beauty Balm

The balm has many uses: as a cleanser, a make up remover, a moisturiser, a facial treatment mask, a lip or nail balm, a cheek highlighter, or to smooth down eyebrows.  The product comes with a muslin cloth inside the box in case you want to use it as a cleanser.  I thought it worked well as a make-up remover although it’s quite heavy and doesn’t come off cleanly like some other cleansers do.  For this reason if you have particularly oily skin you might not want to use the balm for this purpose.

I found that this product worked best for me as a treatment mask.  I normally leave it on for a few hours and it makes my skin feel and look plumped up and well hydrated.  It is also extremely moisturising so it’s good in the winter time if your skin is normally dryer due to the cold weather and central heating. It will give you skin an extra boost of moisture!

Initial Impressions

When I first tried the balm out I was surprised at how oily it was.  It sits on the skin making it look greasy and shiny.  I didn’t like the feel of this at first and it took some time to get used to the feeling of something slippery being on my face.  It’s definitely worth putting up with the oiliness for a few hours though as the results are better than most other masks I’ve tried.  Even the next day I could see the difference it made to my skin.

As a moisturiser I thought the product was too oily and heavy.  I prefer moisturisers that sink into the skin, but this just seemed to sit on the surface.  If you wanted to take a tiny amount and rub it into the skin this might work however I think you would still be able to feel a slight film over your face even with a tiny amount.  Some people might like this, depending on your skin type.  As a night mask I think this may work well.  The only problem I found is that most of it ended up coming off all over my pillow!  For this reason I resorted to using it as a mask I wear in the evening.

I also like using this balm sometimes as a cheek highlighter or to smooth my eyebrows.  When using this as a highlighter I apply a tiny amount to my cheek bones.  I found that it kept the skin under my eye well hydrated during the day, as well as giving a slight sheen to my makeup.  Also, although it shouldn’t matter, the smell of this balm is lovely.

Price of the Wild Rose Beauty Balm

The product costs £40 but it could easily last you years as you only need a tiny amount to cover your face.

Rosehip Oil

I think it’s the rosehip oil in this product which makes it so special.  Rosehip oil is rich in vitamins A, C, D and E which are all antioxidants.  These vitamins keep the skin youthful and improve the skin’s moisture levels.  Rosehip oil also contains the fatty acids oleic and linoleic acid which boost skin hydration and restore elasticity.  The benefits that rosehip oil has on the skin include: reducing the appearance of scars, restoring skin elasticity, boosting collagen and reducing inflammation.

According to Harpers Bazaar magazine, Gwyneth Paltrow, Miranda Kerr and the Duchess of Cambridge are all fans of using rosehip oil in their beauty routine.

Other skin care products containing rosehip oil that I am planning to try are:

Pai Skincare Organic Rosehip Oil

Pai Skincare Organic Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil, 30 ml

The Ordinary Rosehip Oil

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 30ml
