9 Products to Create a Spa Day at Home

Spa day at home

Are you looking for products to create a spa day in your own home? These nine items will help you to create a relaxing environment where you can pamper yourself without leaving the house.

1. Flameless Candles

The first thing you need to do for your DIY spa day is to create a relaxing atmosphere. Instead of real candles I use these flameless candles which are made from real wax but contain a flickering amber LED bulb. They look like the real thing but without the mess of melted wax or risk of starting a fire. The LED lights stay cool so you can use these candles around fabrics. They are powered by batteries and can be ordered from Amazon by clicking here.

2. Salt Lamp

The second item I use to create a relaxing atmosphere is a Himalayan Salt Lamp. As well as emitting a relaxing orange glow, himilayan salt lamps are said to emit negative ions into the air as they heat up. These negative ions are believed to clear the air of allergens such as pollen, mold spores, bacteria and viruses. Once they reach our bloodstream, negative ions are also thought to produce biochemical reactions that increase our levels of serotonin. You can read more information at the links below:

3. Facial Steamer

Once you have set up your environment, the next step is to use a facial steamer. I always use a steamer before applying any mask since it opens up your pores and prepares your skin to get the most benefit from your products. It is also a relaxing step in your beauty routine to sit for fifteen minutes with hot steam. I advise you to cleanse your skin thoroughly before starting your steamer. I use the KINGA Nano Ionic Facial Steamer which is available on Amazon.

3. Face Mask

One you have used the steamer for 10-15 minutes the next step is to apply your face mask. The Rejuvenating Frankincense Firming Mask from Neal’s Yard is an excellent choice and contains frankincense, hyaluronic acid, marine algae and a tripeptide. Before applying the mask first make sure your skin is completely dry, then apply a thin layer over your face avoiding your eyes and mouth. Leave the mask for up to 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water. The mask will leave your skin tightened and toned.

4. Facial Serum

Once you have removed the mask with warm water you should leave your skin slightly damp before applying your serum. The Tri-Molecular Hyaluronic Serum by Balance Me is extremely soothing and hydrating. It contains three different sizes of hyaluronic acid designed to deeply penetrate the layers of skin. It also contains aloe vera, yarrow and chamomile. Apply 3 to 5 drops to a damp, cleansed face and keep patting into the skin until serum is fully absorbed

5. Facial Elixir

After your serum has dried apply five drops of the Darphin Essential Oil Elixir. This product is designed to be applied after serum but before moisturiser. The 8-Flower Nectar leaves the skin refreshed, renewed and resilient. It contains aromatic essences of Immortelle, Ylang-Ylang, Patchouli, Neroli, Rose Damascena, Lavender, Jasmine and Iris. It smells very strongly of the essential oils and will leave you feeling relaxed as well as boosting your skin’s radiance.

6. Moisturiser

Aurelia skincare products have transformed my skin more than any other range I’ve tried. Their products contain probiotic ingredients which continuously protect, restore and balance the skin’s microbiome. Their Cell Revitalise Night Moisturiser contains not only probiotics but plant and flower botanicals which leave your skin hydrated and soothed. The relaxing blend of essential oils in this cream contains Neroli, Lavender, Rose and Mandarin which helps you to wind down and prepare for a restful night’s sleep.

7. Body Serum

I was always a fan of the No7 Protect & Perfect Facial Serum so when I discovered Boots had also made a body serum I was eager to try it. In my opinion the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Moisturising Body Serum would be excellent for a spa day at home. This product contains all the same ingredients as the facial serum including Matrixyl plus, a peptide that restores more youthful looking skin, and retinyl palmitate which supports the skin’s renewal process. The formula is not greasy and very lightweight so it doesn’t leave your skin sticky before bed. It also contains argan oil and hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin.

8. Foot Care

The last step in your body care routine for your spa day at home is to apply the Body Shop’s Peppermint Intensive Cooling Foot Rescue. This cooling cream contains peppermint essential oil and will soothe and refresh your feet at night. Massage a generous amount into your feet before going to bed.

9. Pillow Mist

The final step in your spa day at home is to spray your pillow with this natural sleep aid. The This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray contains a blend of Lavender, Vetivert and Camomile which will calm your mind and body.

Great suggestions for a relaxing day at home (which is everyday these days). I’m intrigued by the Salt Lamp in particular and definitely will get one. Thanks for sharing,

I have some version of each product at home but surprisingly despite the lockdown I haven’t found the time. Imagine that! Needs to happen this weekend. The one thing I don’t have and will be getting are those candles. I love candles but with a very inquisitive cat I’m terrified to have candles in open areas so this is great. Thank you for sharing!
